Smith Meats was established in the early 1900's. We provided butchering service for area farmers.
Smith's has a meat counter selling all varieties of fresh meats to the community. Mr. Smith hired Paul Dowell in 1979. After Sherwood's passing in 1986, Paul purchased the business and became the owner and operator. In 1988, Paul expanded the business by offering hog roasts for parties. When customers began requesting side dishes for their events, Paul decided to expand further. He made up a menu and started the full catering service. Then he started taking requests for things not on his menu, even taking customers' recipes and making their own dishes for them.
In 1990, Paul began raising his own livestock and now sells them himself. He wanted to provide his customers with grazing livestock, which has been proven to have incredible health benefits over feedlot livestock.
Next, Paul purchased tents, tables, and chairs, and began the rental service. Today, Smith Meats provides a full range of butchering, fresh meat, and catering services to their customers. Paul strives for perfection in everything he does, serving as owner, operator, and chief executive of Smith Meats.
